Step 2: RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme (RB-IOS 2021)
If the complaint / dispute is not redressed within a period of one month, the customer may appeal to the Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Office of the Department of Non-Banking Supervision (DNBS) of RBI.
Customers can file their complaints under the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021 online through the RBI Complaint Management Portal:

Salient Features of RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021 (RB-IOS 2021)
- The Scheme is free of cost for the complainant.
- Any customer who has a grievance against an NBFC may file a complaint.
- Complaint must first be filed with the NBFC and resolution awaited for 30 days before approaching the Ombudsman.
- Covers complaints related to deficiency in services, non-adherence to Fair Practices Code, and other RBI directives.
- Ombudsman may direct the NBFC to pay compensation up to ₹20 lakhs (for financial loss) and up to ₹1 lakh for mental agony / harassment.
- Complaints can be lodged online, by email, or by post to the Centralised Receipt and Processing Centre (CRPC), RBI, Chandigarh.
